This is a bucket-list mountain ride through the rugged, wild north of La Palma on the LP-1, carving from the agricultural terraces of Barlovento across massive volcanic canyons to the peaceful hamlet of Roque Faro in Garafía.
The character of the road is defined by its dramatic, technical nature: an endless sequence of tight hairpins diving deep into massive barrancos (ravines) and climbing right back out through dense laurel and pine forests. Influenced heavily by the trade winds, the route offers breathtaking glimpses of rugged sea cliffs plunging into the Atlantic before finishing in one of the most serene, remote corners of “La Isla Bonita.”
