As you enter the protected Parque Natural de Corralejo, you’ll ride a ribbon of black asphalt surrounded by pure white sand dunes that often spill right onto the road. Despite popular belief, this sand didn’t blow over from the Sahara—it is actually organic, formed over millennia from pulverized marine shells. To your right, the bright turquoise Atlantic offers unobstructed views of Isla de Lobos, named after the monk seals that once inhabited its shores.
