How can I confirm that my booking has been processed?

Once you have completed the booking process on our website and have made the required 50% payment, you will receive an email with the order confirmation.

Why is the Canary Islands the best destination for a motorcycle trip?

What are the requirements to rent a motorcycle?

  • A valid and recognized EU driving license (digital driving licenses are not accepted).
  • A valid identification document
  • Credit or debit card

Can I return the motorcycle outside the opening hours?

Yes, at the time of picking up the bike we will explain you how to do it.

Can I pick up the motorcycle outside opening hours?

If you want to pick up the motorcycle during the weekend, you will be charged an extra 25 euros, which will go to the employee who delivers the motorcycle.

Do you provide a helmet and other riding gear or should I bring my own?

Yes, a helmet and a pair of gloves are included with the motorcycle rental. We also have more riding gear for rent in case you need (second helmet, gloves for the passenger, jackets…).

Do I need any previous motorcycle experience to rent?

You don’t need to have experience with a renting, but you should have experience with driving a motorcycle. You have to realise you are responsible for damages and you will be riding in a different country than maybe you are used to.

What do I need to bring when I pick up the motorcycle?

  • ID/Passport
  • Driving license/International Driver License (for non-European citizens).
  • Credit/Debit card

What forms of payment do you accept for the rental fee and deposit?

The rental fee can be paid with cash or credit/debit card. The deposit must be paid by credit or debit card (except Maestro).

Do you offer any discounts for repeat costumers or long-term rentals ?

  • Yes, if you rent again with us you will enjoy a 10% discount.
  • Yes, the longer the rental period, the greater the discount that will be applied (up to 7 days).

Do you provide pick-up or delivery service for the motorcycle?

Are your motorcycles suitable for two passengers, or just for solo riders?

Yes, all our motorcycles have a passenger seat as well.

Where can I pick up the motorcycle?

In any of our two offices, we are located in:

-Gran Canaria: Calle Rafael Almeida, 16, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
-Tenerife: Avenida Antonio Dominguez, 9, Local 1, Los Cristianos, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Can I travel by ferry to Morocco or mainland Spain with the motorcycle?

No, you are only allowed to travel between the 7 Canary Islands with the motorcycle.

Is it possible to add a top case to the bike?

Yes, almost all of our motorcycles have the option to add a top case and/or side cases. Some of them can be fitted with a tank bag.

Do the motorcycles have a phone holder?

Yes, all our motorcycles have a phone holder, some with USB charger and others with wireless charger.

Do all the motorcycles have locks?

Yes, additionally to the steering lock, we provide a disc lock with alarm for every bike.

What is Basic Third party insurance?

You are responsible for all damages to the motorcycle if it is your fault. Third-party offers coverage against claims for damages and losses incurred by a driver who is not the insured, and is therefore not covered under the insurance policy. The driver who caused damages is the third party.

What is Limited Risk Insurance?

If the damage is more than 1200€/2000€ (depends on the bike) you only pay up to this amount and the rest will be covered by the insurance company. You are responsible for damages costing up to this amount.

How much is deposit for motorcycle?

For each motorcycle, a 600€/1000€ (depending on models) deposit by debit or credit card is required before you will be allowed to go riding. This money will be returned when you return the bike without damage.

How does retention work on the credit/debit card?

This is a common procedure in vehicle rental.

At the moment the motorcycle is delivered to the customer, the amount stipulated as a guarantee is blocked on the credit card. The blocking does not imply any payment, but it must be taken into account because it limits the credit available on the credit card used.

Upon return of the motorcycle, the amount is released immediately if there is no damage to the motorcycle. In case of any damage, the damages will be assessed according to the criteria explained at the time of rental, deducting this amount from the blocked amount.

What should I do if I have an accident?

You should always call the police on 112 and if you need assistance with broken motorcycle call the ARAG ASISTANCE ROAD 902108230. Please also always inform us by phone +34653748180 and we will try to help you.

What if I accidentally damage to the motorcycle or rented gear?

Please inform us as soon as possible via phone or email and we will decide what we can do in this case.

How quickly will my deposit be refunded after I return the motorcycle?

Once you have returned the bike, our team will carry out an inspection as soon as possible and we will immediately proceed to refund the deposit. Please note that your bank may take a little longer to unblock the amount of money in your account. We recommend to read this article http://www.canaryride.com/refund for further information.

What is your policy on traffic fined and violations?

Fines with immediate notification must be paid within a certain period of time to avoid a surcharge, normally you can pay directly to the police officer by credit card, if the payment must be made in another way (in cashier or city hall office, usually in Spanish).

If the fine is for speed radar and / or comes to us some time later, we will notify you and provide a link to pay it and we will proceed with the payment (we apply an extra charge of 25 € for handling fees). In case of refusal we will proceed to communicate to the authorities the authorship of the infraction and the fine will be processed directly by them with a surcharge.

Can I take the motorbike off-road or on race tracks?

No, off-road or race track driving is not allowed.

Is there a fully comprehensive insurance?

We ourselves only offer the limited risk insurance with an excess of 1200€ or 2000€. However, for all EU citizens (not UK) there is a rental car insurance for 6,90€ per day from Hanse Merkur to cover this excess. Contact us for more information.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 24 hours.

How can I book & reserve a motorcycle for ride?

What is your fuel policy?

We have a “FULL to FULL” policy, which means you will get motorcycle with a full tank of fuel and you will return it full as well. If for some reason, you recieve the motorcycle with less than a full tank, you would also be expected to return it with a similar level. If you return the motorcycle with an empty tank, you will be charged for the difference.

Is there a mileage limit during the rental?

No, the mileage during the rental is unlimited.

Can someone else drive the motorcycle that I have rented?

No, only the person named in the rental contract can drive the motorcyc

Will I be charged if I cancel my reservation?

The cancellation policy is following:

We will not charge any fee if the cancelation is made more than 30 days before arrival.

If the cancellation is between:

29 – 15 days before departure, you will pay 30%

14 – 8 days before departure, you will pay 50%

7 days to 1 day before departure, you will pay 80%

If you simply don’t turn up, you will pay 100%

What driving licence do I need to have?

You will need either an A2 for some smaller motorcycles or an A for bigger bikes. You can also drive 125ccm with B licence which is older than 3 years.

What if my motorcycle breaks down on the road or it is not working?

If it is within our capacity, we will try to find you another motorcycle.

What if I have flat tyre on the road?

Call ARAG Road Assistance 24/7 on +34 902108230, they will help you to transport a motorcycle to the closest repair shop.

Please bear in mind that cost of tyre repair is not covered, and you will be fully charged. Furthermore, if the tyre is fixed with a temporary solution, you will be charged for replacing the tyre at the end of the rental period for safety reasons.

Can I travel on a ferry with a motorcycle to other islands?

Yes, you can move freely between the Canary Islands, please inform a staff about it.

Please bear in mind that in the case of damage to the motorcycle by your fault, causing it unmoveable, you will be responsible for transfer fee back to our base in Gran Canaria and your deposit could be hold and charged by the amount of this transport.

I am coming from outside of Europe do I need a international driving licence?

Yes, it is highly recommended. Your licence has to be in English with motorcycle licence.

What are my responsibilities during the rental period?

We expect you rent and ride in good faith which biker to biker will try to take a good care of the rental motorcycle as if it was their own. You should also ensure secure parking during the night. Our motorcycles are new and well maintained, but you are also responsible for checking oil, coolant, tire pressure or chain.

What if I like the motorcycle so much that I want it keep it for more days?

Please call us or write us an email to ask if the motorcycle is available for this period. If yes, you will be charged when you return the motorcycle.

Is there a minimum age or experience level for renting a motorcycle?

There is no minimum age, but you need to have valid motorcycle licence type A1 A2 or A or B+3 years. Please bear in mind that riding on some parts of the island needs a good level of skill for handling a motorcycle. We don’t recommend riding on the Canary Islands to a total beginner with a fresh driving licence.

What if I lose the motorcycle key?

Contact us as soon as possible so that we can provide you with another key. Please note that we will have to charge you for the costs of the loss.

Can I modify or add accessories during my rental period?

Please note that if the bike is damaged by an accessory that we have not provided, we will have to charge you for the damage.
